    Australian Stockmans Hall of Fame , Longreach, QLD

    Discover the history behind some of Australia's bravest and most intrepid explorers - the stockmen and Aborigines of early pioneering Australia at the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame. Over 60 per cent of the collection is on display whilst the remainder has formed a unique work in progress display. The curatorial area is housed behind a glass wall where you are able to view the many artefacts that are yet to be displayed. The themes cover exploration, discovery, settlement, development of Outback properties and industries, living in the Outback and the stock worker. The new touch screen technology also allows you to choose the level of information you wish to receive.

    Flinders Discovery Centre , Hughenden, QLD

    The Flinders Discovery Centre in Hughenden houses a skeletal life-size replica of the Muttaburrasaurus Langdoni, a dinosaur fossil display including local fossils, and gemstones and fossils from around the world. Other displays include the Porcupine Gorge Light and Sound Show, telling the story of the formation of the gorge over 500 million years, a bioregion exhibition, historical memorabilia and an audiovisual presentation on the development of Hughenden with early settlers.

    Ilfracombe , QLD

    Ilfracombe, named after a small town in Devonshire England, originated in 1891 as a transport nucleus for Wellshot Station, the largest sheep station in the world at the time (in terms of stock numbers). The town had three hotels - each with its own dance hall, a soft drink maker, a coach builder, two general stores, a billiard saloon, a dressmaker, three commission agents, a couple of butchers, a baker and a saddler. Today there are just 350 people living in an shire which covers 6,500 square kilometres.

    Kronosaurus Korner , Richmond, QLD

Inside Kronosaurus Korner you'll find the only centre in Australia primarily dedicated to displaying marine reptiles, as well as a very special dinosaur. Minmi, with impressions of its fossilised skin, is considered to be Australia's best-preserved dinosaur skeleton. The Richmond Pliosaur here is Australia's best vertebrate fossil, and one of the world's best skeleton fossils.

    Visit 'Hughie', the seven-metre Muttaburrasaurus and an impressive fossil collection at the Flinders Discovery Centre. While you are there, relive the glory days of sheep production and its subsequent demise in the 'Shearing Straggler' exhibit. A small entry fee applies.
